THE NATIONAL MARINERA CONTEST This activity dates back to 1960, when president Juan Vargas Ganoza of the Club Libertad suggested a series of raffles and a Marinera contest to clean up the serious financial crisis of the institution. Organized by: Club Libertad |

HUANCHACO CARNIVAL
Huanchaco District The first party to be celebrated is the coronation of the Queen of Carnival, which takes place in conjunction with the already popular “Hawaiian Luau “. There is a special day in which activities are organized for the children who also celebrate the carnival, for that day there is an impressive children’s parade with also the coronation of the queen of this category and a party for the children where the only requirement of entrance is dressing up for the occasion. SEÑOR DE LA MISERICORDIA FEAST Laredo suffers torrential rains for a week that affected all buildings of that time, the population implored the mercy of God on March 19th, 1891. It was designated as Patron of Laredo the Lord of Mercy on September 14th, 1891 . Its official recognition was granted by Pope John Paul II with his Apostolic blessing found in the temple of Jesus and Mary of Laredo, commonly called Catholic Church, shines in his Greater Altar the crucified effigy of the Lord of Mercy. The painting was placed on the left side of the Main Altar, next to the Sacristy. There is the Papal Resolution, as a testimony to eternity and the sculpture of the Lord of Mercy was once again placed in the right place, the High Altar. SAN ISIDRO LABRADOR FEAST Moche District Date: March – April Tradition tells us that the image of San Isidro was brought from Spain by Fray Toribio de Mogrovejo and reached the Moche valley in 1578 on its way to Huaraz, where it had been destined, when passing through this valley and perceiving the pure air of its camp, the religious decided to leave it in the town of Moche, according to information spread by the Brotherhood of San Isidro Labrador of the Parish Santa Lucía de Moche. SEÑOR DE LOS MILAGROS FEAST In the city of Trujillo, the official image of the Cristo Moreno is in the Santo Domingo temple and every October, it walks through the streets of the northern city, surrounded by incense and candles, along with vendors of the turron of Doña Pepa. For 21 years, the Lord of Miracles has also been considered as the Jury and Protector of the city of Trujillo, a title conferred thanks to the impressive number of faithful who accompany the religious demonstrations. In every corner, the city lives its party. The purple ornaments remember the characteristic color of a festivity that has no borders and expresses itself with indescribable passion. VIRGEN DEL SOCORRO FEAST The story goes back to the year 1 534, when the Spanish missionary Fray Alonso de Escarcena proposes to strengthen the work of evangelization in lands of northern of Peru with a religious image that serves as a model for the conversion of the indigenous. The huanchaquera tradition also tells that miracles continued with the effigy on earth. During the mass of presentation to the people who came from the spa, a woman, mute by birth, was able to speak receiving the blessing of the mother of Christ and then raising a Hail Mary to the amazement of those present. ANNIVERSARY OF THE INDEPENDENCE OF TRUJILLO Trujillo became the first independent city in the northern of Peru. From the 22nd of December of 1820. The city was free of the realistic power and agreed to celebrate it the day 29th with the raising of the national pavilion and the placidity of the town. Thus it is clear that the council of Trujillo was the first to proclaim officially and publicly its independence in the north with no obstacles to its legitimacy.
